Broad Jump

Standing horizontal jump. Measures explosive distance from a static start.

What it measures

From a still standing position (no run-up), you jump horizontally as far as possible. The app uses your phone camera and your height to calibrate pixels-to-centimeters, then measures the distance from takeoff toes to landing heels.

Why it matters

Broad jump is the NFL Combine staple — every offensive lineman, running back, and defensive back does it. Unlike vertical jump, it requires coordinating hip extension with forward propulsion. Athletes weak in this often have strong squat numbers but poor on-field power transfer.

How to do it

  1. 1Place your phone perpendicular to your jump direction, 3 meters to the side.
  2. 2Enter your height when prompted (one-time, used for distance calibration).
  3. 3Stand with toes behind a clear starting line, fully in frame.
  4. 4Swing your arms back, then explode forward and up — both feet leave together.
  5. 5Land on both feet without falling backward. The app measures heel-of-landing minus toe-of-takeoff.
